Annual Meeting, Editors’ Gathering, and Journal Workshop Held by AJIE in Malang
Malang – September 27-29, 2024, Al-Hayat: Journal of Islamic Education (AJIE), under the coordination (publisher) of the LETIGES, successfully held its annual editorial meeting and editors’ gathering in Malang, East Java. This event, which has become a yearly tradition, aims to strengthen internal communication, build editorial networks, and review the journal’s performance over the past year. Participants included the editor-in-chief, editorial board members, reviewers, and managing partners from various academic institutions.
The event was not only a moment of reunion and reflection, but also featured a workshop and training session for editors and reviewers of nationally and internationally accredited journals. The purpose of the workshop was to enhance the professional capacity of journal managers, especially in preparation for national accreditation (SINTA) and international indexing such as DOAJ, Scopus, and Web of Science (WoS). Key topics covered included managing the latest version of OJS, strategies to increase article citation and visibility, publication ethics, and best practices in academic writing and peer reviewing.
During the sessions, participants received insights from experienced speakers with strong backgrounds in managing reputable academic journals. The discussions were highly interactive, with participants engaging in Q&A, sharing real-world challenges, and learning from each other’s experiences. A simulation of the national accreditation assessment (based on ARJUNA criteria) was also conducted, followed by strategic planning for achieving international indexing in a structured and sustainable way.
The event concluded with the formulation of strategic recommendations and a 2025 action plan for AJIE and other journals under LETIGES. A shared commitment was reached to maintain high publication standards, strengthen inter-journal collaboration, and expand national and international partnerships. With a strong sense of unity and professionalism, this programme is expected to serve as a catalyst for positioning AJIE and other LETIGES journals at the forefront of Islamic education and social science research publication in the coming years. -AF-
